Housing specialty clinics, an eyewear center, and a hub for continuing education, this satellite location of UC Berkeley's renown Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science will double clinical capacity, expand research, and advance a new model for integrated pediatric eye care. Located on San Pablo Avenue, the LEED Gold targeted project entails the conversion of a cold shell commercial building into a state-of-the-art hub of vision care that consolidates basic and advanced eye care treatment for adults and children under one roof. Program components include: pediatric eye care for infants, toddlers, and children; special vision assessment clinics, binocular vision clinics, and facilities for vision therapy and rehabilitation; as well as a concussion clinic, low vision clinic, contact lens clinic, myopia management clinic, sports vision clinic, and an eyewear center.
Located on the second floor, the Academy for the Advancement of Optometric Education provides a dynamic learning environment for optometrists to enhance their skills and stay at the forefront of their profession, the flexible spaces will accommodate continuing education events, lectures and seminars to support hands-on and workshop-based learning opportunities.
